Veterinarians

Our veterinarians have graduated from universities around Australia and even the United Kingdom with some having also attained other degrees and further qualifications. This gives them a varied set of experiences, training and knowledge that is frequently shared. We also have vets of varied ages which means that there is a good mix of hard earned knowledge from experience as well as new ideas from the younger ones. Each veterinarian has their own area of interest, but maintains skills to deal with all the eventualities that work in a mixed practice can present them with.

There is a short biography of each of our veterinarians below.

Dr Graeme Blanch BAgSc BVSc (Hons) MACVS (Equine)
Graeme started at Warby Street in 1982 and has now officially been here too long! Graeme’s special veterinary interests are equine medicine and reproduction and he has postgraduate qualifications in these areas. He still loves dogs and cats too, particularly surgery and orthopaedics and still gets a buzz out of delivering a live calf, even if it is at 11pm, or worse! When Graeme does manage to leave work behind, he tries to be a farmer, albeit a frustrated one! He also enjoys cross-country skiing, cycling, ornithology (study of feathered birds), red wine and travel.

Dr Andrew Bett BAgSc (Hons) BVSc
Andrew, or ‘Bettsy’ as he is more commonly known, has been a member of the Warby Street team for 7 years, recently cementing his place here as a partner. He is a well travelled vet, having worked in the UK and around Australia. Bettsy has also travelled extensively, including Europe, Russia and the US to name a few spots. He has recently settled down to life in Wangaratta with a growing young family. Andrew’s veterinary interests are with large animals, especially equine medicine and surgery. Outside of vet work, Bettsy enjoys entertaining friends with his wicked sense of humour, socialising, keeping fit, cycling, skiing and bushwalking.

Dr Richard Evans BVSc MRCVS
Richard has also been a long-standing member of the Warby Street ‘gang’, having worked here for nearly 20 years. Richard is a Welshman (although we don’t hold that against him!) and has had extensive experience in the UK and in Australia. His special interests are in cattle medicine and surgery and emergency animal diseases, of which he is a member of a select group of veterinarians involved in Australia’s emergency disease preparedness. Richard is also a farmer in his spare time, with a Guinea Fowl flock, cattle and Welsh Ponies. He also enjoys spending time with his family and most sports, live or on TV!

Dr Rena Geroe BVSc
Rena has been with Warby Street Vet Hospital since 1988, enjoying both full and part-time work while she was raising a family. Rena’s particular interest is in small animal medicine, particularly skin problems and allergies. She also enjoys surgery of all types, especially orthopaedics. Rena is a regular attendee of conferences and seminars to ensure she is always up to date. When at home, Rena spends most of her time organising her husband and two girls! When not organising the family, she enjoys cooking delicious food, skiing, shopping and walking in the bush!

Dr Sarah Norman BVSc (Hons)
Sarah is the newest member of the veterinary team at Warby Street. She is a graduate of the University of Melbourne and has been working in the North East for the last 2 years. Sarah is a keen horserider and has come to Warby St with the goal of following her interest in equine medicine and surgery. In her spare time Sarah is another snowsport enthusiast. She also competes in showjumping and eventing on her thoroughbred mare. Please make Sarah welcome next time you see her in the hospital or on your farm.

Dr Tim Craig BVSc (Hons)
Tim graduated from the University of Sydney in 2004 and began work at Warby St in January 2005 as part of a rural scholarship program. He has had several stints with us interspersed with periods of chasing the snow around the world. He enjoys the challenges of small animal surgery and emergency cases even if by definition they happen out of hours. He's also responsible for this website, at least with a little help from his brother. When Tim isn't at work he is probably at the snow or else using another means of getting down a hill quickly!
