Veterinary Nurses
All our nurses have attained or are in the midst of the coursework to attain their certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. This is the highest qualification available to veterinary nurses in Australia. Our nurses are also working towards additional related qualifications and continually attending seminars, conferences and courses to further improve their already stellar skills. Several of our nurses are also keen horsewomen so there is always an extra set of hands available to help with horses at the hospital.
There is a short biography of each of our nurses below. |

Janet Naish Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse
Janet is a local Wangaratta girl and began working at Warby Street 7 years ago. She hasn’t looked back since! She has completed a Certificate 4 in vet nursing and particularly enjoys the special wildlife cases that we receive at the hospital. Janet is a quiet and very efficient member of the Warby Street team. Outside work, Janet is devoted to her 3 daughters and her new grandson. Janet enjoys horse-riding in her spare time and renovating her new house. |

Crystelle Van Ingen Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse
Crystelle is another member of the sensational nursing team at Warby Street and has been with us since 2004. Crystelle has completed her Certificate 4 in vet nursing and particularly enjoys neonatal care, caesareans and caring for intensive care patients. When not looking after sick and injured animals, Crystelle loves spending time with her family and friends, including her pets. She also enjoys time outdoors such as camping and bushwalking, but being inside watching movies is pretty good too! |

Loris Thompson Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse
Loris has a special interest in wildlife. She began nursing at Warby Street Vet Hospital back in 1992 and is one of the longest standing members of the team. Loris did leave us briefly for a seachange down at Philip Island, but decided that she missed Warby Street too much and is now back here to stay. Loris’s special interests in veterinary practice include intensive care animals, surgery and wildlife, particularly native birds. In her spare time, Loris enjoys walking on the beach (at Philip Island, not in Wangaratta!), travelling, cross-country skiing, bike riding and socialising. |

Melinda Roberts BSc(App), Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse
Melinda's Applied Science Degree is in Equine Studies, her particular field of interest. Already a qualified Certificate IV nurse with over 8 years experience, she is currently studying for her Certificate III in Equine Vet Nursing. Apart from working at Warby St since 1999, Mel has done volunteer work with bears in China and also nursed at equine clinics in Melbourne and the UK. In her spare time she enjoys riding her horse Trek, walking her dog Harley and playing with her 2 Devon Rex cats Murphy and Fraggle. In between all this she also finds time for the odd game of Netball. |

Amy Ledger Experienced Veterinary Nurse
Amy is a valuable member of the nursing team. Her vet nursing background is with horses, having worked at the Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital in the past. She is now enjoying the challenge of working with our smaller more sharp toothed and clawed animal friends. When not at work she is kept busy by her young son Joshua. She is now twice as busy with the arrival of Nicholas, and maybe even three times as busy considering all her efforts at the Wangaratta Equine Hospital as well. |

Rebecca Shaw Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse
Rebecca joined the team in October 2009. She has worked in multiple practices throughout Victoria and has also spent 2 years nursing overseas in the United Kingdom. She is a devoted animal owner with 2 labradors and possibly the world's most expensive cat. When not at work you might find Rebecca out on the golf course, at the gym or catching a movie at the cinema. Please make Rebecca welcome next time you are in the hospital. |

Hanna Costanzo Studying for Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse
Hanna is a hardworking and conscientious addition to the Warby St nursing team. She also serves double duty, like several of our vet nurses, with her shifts at the Wangaratta Equine Hospital. A keen horse rider with a less than willing horse, Hanna always has a good story and a laugh up her sleeve. Hanna has been studying hard of late to attain her Certificate IV in veterinary nursing. Almost there Hanna! |
